I am a Clinical Psychologist, licensed in New York and Virginia. Moreover, I specialize in Forensics, and have a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology and Forensic Psychology. This amalgamation of studies has allowed me to engage in a myriad of clinical experiences throughout the years. These experiences include functioning as a Treatment Team Psychologist in a State Psychiatric Facility, conducting assessments for Family Court, pre-screening for Emergency Services, teaching as an Adjunct Professor, and completing Employability Assessments for an organization contracted by the City of NY. All of these experiences have certainly broadened my knowledge of psychology and treatment practices. Moreover, the interactions with patients and their families allowed me to quickly become aware that many people are desiring to know more about different facets of mental health, but often do not know where to access the answers to their questions. In addition to this, mental illness can be stigmatizing, so at times, it keeps people from seeking the answers they desire, afraid of judgement and criticism. I began to recognize that it would be advantageous to the community to provide education about different topics in order to assist in fostering wellness. Treatment is very important, but it is also important to have in depth understanding about diagnoses as well as the treatment procedures, to help create insight, and maintain clinical engagement. That thought, coupled with encouragement from family and friends, commenced the genesis of Promoting Optimal Wellness. Since I love assisting others in terms of mental health needs, and I love educating, it was the perfect fusion between the two interests. Trustfully, these psycho-educational services will address the needs of those experiencing the impact of mental health concerns.
